Dr. John A. Shoemaker

John received his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky after completing his doctoral research at the University of Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has taught public administration, quality management systems, statistics, research methodology, marketing research and projectmanagement at a number of colleges and universities including Kansas State University and the University of Kansas. Since leaving full-time academic employment, he has held a number of positions in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. For the last fifteen years much of his work has focused on organizational improvement. He served as the Director of the Kansas Center for Performance Excellence, the Baldrige affiliate in Kansas, for seven years. During this period, he helped numerous organizations develop Baldrige-based quality management systems designed to improve efficiency and increase organizational effectiveness. He is currently a member of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program Board of Examiners and the Baldrige Collaborative. He also served as a Baldrige examiner in 2004, 2007, and 2009 and has served on the Board of Examiners of the Washington State Quality Award Program and as an evaluator for the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

John also has extensive experience in the field of project management. He has conducted more than 200 project management seminars over the last twelve years throughout the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. His client list includes many of the Fortune 500 companies. In addition to project management seminars, he does contract project management, project management consulting and Merlin-based project management software training and consulting.

He is a senior member of the American Society for Quality and the Project Management Institute and is retired from the Kansas Air National Guard. He is the administrator of the Baldrige in Business Schools group on Linkedin. See John's public profile on
